Apple adds leniency to their Third-Party Screen Repairs

Apple has been uptight about their policies regarding iPhone screen repairs. Screens are one of the most fragile parts of smartphone and even a slight drop on the floor in the wrong angle can cause a crack in the screen. Apple has made a fairly good decision to allow third-party repairs get an iPhone fixed without voiding the warranty.

Apple has floated a memo that clearly states that an Apple Authorized Service Provider must check the damaged device for any tampering in the hardware that does not include the screen. Once it has been verified that the device hasn’t been tampered, the phone should be repaired as per company policy.

There are however some clauses that may offend a potential customer. The memo states that if the replaced screen hinders the repairing process or causes a failure during the repair process, then the costs will be incurred upon the customer.

Going ahead, if the problem is related to the replaced third party display, the customer will have to pay for the display outside of the warranty. Finally, if a customer wishes to replace the third party display with an original one, the customer will have to pay the costs.

According to us, the policies mentioned above are fairly lenient when it comes to the policies previously implemented by the company. With these relaxations, Apple is making it easier for their customers to get their phone repaired if they are unable to get to an Apple Care store in time.

How to Transfer Data to your New iPhone with iTunes

How to Transfer Data to your New iPhone with iTunes

iPhone Data Transfer

iPhone data transfer can become a headache if you don’t know what you are doing. When you upgrade to a new phone, you don’t want to start all over with downloads and settings and entering information; you want to just move your existing operations from your old phone onto your new phone. Luckily, Apple makes this easy with the backup options provided with the iTunes program.

Saving the Data From Your Old Phone

The iTunes program is not just a “storage container” for all the apps and music you’ve purchased, it’s also a storage option for your entire phone and can help you with your iPhone data transfer!  And it includes much more availability for data than you get with iCloud and its 5B storage limit.  When you back up your phone using iTunes on your computer, you have a safely stored version of everything on your phone, stowed securely in a separate location.

Here’s how you do it. You’ll need your phone, your Mac or PC, and a hardwire connection. (If you want to sync wirelessly, see the separate instructions just below.)

  1. First, make sure the iTunes on your computer is updated to the latest version.
  2. Connect your iPhone and your computer with a cable.
  3. Turn OFF the iCloud capability on your iPhone (because you won’t be able to back up with iTunes while iCloud is enabled). Go to Settings, tap on iCloud, select “Storage & Backup” and make sure the switch is off.
  4. Open iTunes on your computer, and right click (or Control-click) on your iPhone in the list of devices at the left of the pane.
  5. Select “Back Up” from the list of options.

If you want to sync wirelessly to create a backup, rather than using a cable, you can select “General” from your Settings menu, then click “iTunes Wi-Fi Sync,” and pick your device from the list.  For this to work, your phone needs to have iCloud turned off, be connected to Wi-Fi, be plugged in to a source of power, and have the screen locked.

It’s worth noting that things you own that are not stored on your phone will not be backed up, because they’re already being stored elsewhere. So even though it’s not part of the backup process, you’re not losing anything!

An app or movie that you have bought, but don’t actually have installed on your phone, will be saved as part of your iTunes account, but not as part of your backup. However, ALL the stuff that’s actually saved on your phone (contacts, application settings and data, calendars, call history and messages, accounts and account settings, in-app purchases, bookmarks, and so on) will be included in the backup.

Loading your Data onto Your New Phone

When you bring home your new phone, you will essentially be reversing the process you used to save the data off your old phone, transferring it this time from the computer to the phone.

  1. Connect your iPhone to your computer by cable.
  2. Open iTunes on your computer, and right click (or Control-click) on your iPhone in the list of devices at the left of the pane.
  3. Click on the tab labeled “Summary,” then select “Restore.” (Alternatively, you might see an option to “Restore From Back Up.”)
  4. Wait for the loading! You’ll see a progress bar on the iTunes on your computer, as well as a “Restore in Progress” notice on the screen of your iPhone. When the progress bar has finished and the phone has entirely restarted, it’s safe to disconnect your iPhone.

It’s as easy as that! You’ll be able to pick up using your new phone as if it were the same phone, simply metamorphosed into the upgraded version. This process can also work for migrating data from one iPad to another.

If you need help with a iPhone data transfer, backup, restore, or migrating data to a new phone Repair Sharks offer’s these services to all of our customers. Feel free to give us a call or email us with any questions.

How to Backup iPhone Pictures in 4 Simple Steps

How to Backup iPhone Pictures

How to backup iPhone pictures. Getting your iPhone photos backed up is a good idea given how many people have software issues or drop their phone these days. We see people come in with messed up iPhones all the time and it is no wonder they want to have their data backed up beforehand. It is important to take all the precautions necessary so that you do not lose some of your important work or your memories lost.

With a few simple steps, you will be able to backup your iPhone pictures so that you do not lose them and so that you do not have a lot of space used up on your cell phone. With the quantity of apps and games you can play on your phone, you’ll need all the space that you can get!

Simple Steps to Backup Your iPhone

The simplest way to get your iPhone backed up is to go through the iTunes platform that is meant for Apple products. The iTunes platform will allow you to not only buy music through the store, but also allows you to back up your photos with the built in importing tool.

While this is the easiest way to backup your iPhone photos, there are a few steps to keep in mind. First of all, you have to download the iTunes platform unless you have a Macbook. This doesn’t come standard on all computers. Next, make sure you connect your iPhone to a USB cable. Finally, make sure you give authorization to your PC for accessing the phone data. If you haven’t done this yet, it will be an optional prompt upon entering your details.

Alternatives for iPhone Backup

Aside from the traditional route, there are a few alternatives. One of them is to use hardware to backup the images. This can be done with an external hard drive and some help from a professional. This will make sure that you have all of your images off the phone and on another device completely. Although it is not as safe as the cloud might be, it is still useful to get the images onto another device.

Finally, you’ll be able to get your iPhone pictures backed up through a variety of different software platforms. The important thing is to make sure that you do not find a software solution that is either cheap or not provided by a good merchant. Some of the options include those that are wireless, which can be an extremely effective way of doing things.

Getting an importer on your computer might seem like a difficult thing to deal with, but in reality you’ll find that it is actually a lot easier. One of the routes that you can take is to user services like Dropbox or Box, which you might already have. Others, such as Sugar Sync have a 90 day free trial that you can use, but most of them are free.

Once you download the app for the iPhone you can sign into your account and start to turn on the photo upload feature. Doing this will enable you to get your images directly from the phone onto your computer without you needing to do much else and allow you to backup iphone pictures. Just set it and forget it.

The important thing is that once these systems make a copy (not just sync) of the image, you now have a wireless (and hassle free) extra copy of the images. This way you are never losing images with a broken phone or accidentally deleting anything.

For some people, there are advantages of cloud based systems that far outweigh the simple protection of images. Naming photos and organizing them for later use might be a good idea for business purposes or even just remembering fun vacations. The iPhone doesn’t allow you to change the names, but many of these programs allow the customization that you might crave.

For the most part, this is a good system that is going to make your life a lot easier without the pain and hassle that usually comes with it! Now you know exactly how to backup iPhone pictures.

iPhone Repair for Consumers

Imagine a scenario when you have an important week of meetings and work to do, but your phone suddenly falls, shatters, and breaks. People are faced with this every day and despite the iPhone’s flexbility and durability, it is still often in need of repair. For those times when you have made the mistake of dropping the phone, there are well placed iPhone repair options that you can choose from to quickly and efficiently correct the problem.

The only thing that you need to consider is what type of iPhone repair that you need. Sometimes you need assistance that only Apple can provide, but other times you can speak to just about any of your providers and get a good, solid answer from them. For the most part, you’ll find that an expert is the best way to go to prevent yourself from running into future problems.

iPhone Repair Done Right

The last thing that you want to do is have an iPhone repair that is done in a bizarre fashion. Most of the time when there is some error on the display or something similar, a person might take it into a nearby iPhone repair shop and find that they don’t actually know what they are doing. These people aren’t necessarily fakes or frauds, but they are definitely unaware of all the ways to properly repair an iPhone. Repairing these devices looks simple but many mistakes can be made rendering your device useless. Always choose a reputable repair shop that has the experience needed to fix your phone properly.

If you want to get it done right from the start, a professional is a good place to turn. A professional might charge a bit extra, but you are getting the peace of mind that your data isn’t going to be lost by a faulty technician.

One thing you should search for when you are looking for an iPhone repair specialist is whether or not they actually have the credentials. How long have they been in business and are they fixing iPhones regularly? These are the questions you need to be asking if you are trying to get the best results from your iPhone services.

What Could Go Wrong

A lot of people who have not had to experience damaged iPhones don’t even know what could actually go wrong with their phone. The most obvious and common problem is to have a shattered screen. That type of thing is going to make your life a lot more difficult especially if it is impacting the display. Many people who are listening to music on their phone drop it and then have a cracked screen that prevents them from actually using the touch display anymore.

Other than this, there are a host of issues with the hardware like water damage. While some water damage is too far to replace, the iPhone repair specialists can probably figure out how to handle some of the smaller issues that you might be dealing with.

At the end of the day, the biggest problem with some iPhones is the software and this is a problem that really requires a specialist. While the software for Apple products is usually some of the best in the world, it is nonetheless a painful process to get things fixed.

Steps for Fixing Your iPhone

The number one step is to see whether or not you have a software or a hardware problem. That should be relatively easy to test and I you continue to have issues that you cannot fix, there is a good chance you will be able to diagnose it with the right kind of specialist. If you finally figure out what it is that you are trying to fix, you can start looking for a specialist.

When it comes to getting a specialist, it is a good idea for you to look for credentials as we have mentioned above. You also want to make sure that you are getting someone who is going to have your best interests at heart. This doesn’t just mean for money, but also for time and efficiency. Some of the online and local iPhone repair shops actually do a better job of fixing and returning your phone than you would expect. All you need to do is explain the issue and sometimes they can fix it really quickly.

If you are thinking about finding an iPhone repair shop, make sure you are focusing on the quality. An iPhone is one of the most popular phones in the world, but that doesn’t mean everyone who is fixing it will automatically know what they are doing. It is your responsibility to also make sure that you are getting the best bang for your buck! The best service usually doesn’t come with the cheapest price so be wary of anyone charging significantly lower than other shops you have found. Chances are they are using refurbished or sub-par quality replacement products and that is where they are saving money.

Common Issues That Might Warrant iPhone Repair

iPhone RepairThere’s no question that our iPhones have made our lives infinitely easier. In just a few seconds, you can look up a sports score, email a friend, reserve a table at your favorite restaurant or buy movie tickets. It’s because our cellular phones have become so ingrained into our day-to-day activities that we often feel lost when something happens to them.

When it comes to an iPhone, some of the most common issues you might run into as far as damage related to water contact, damaged screens or a malfunctioning charging port. All of these issues are fairly serious as they will eventually render your cell phone a pretty-looking paperweight soon, if not immediately.

Oh, No! What happened?

Like all electronics, iPhones are very sensitive to moisture, and it only takes a couple of drops of water or some other liquid to do some serious damage. In addition to the evident ways to get a phone wet, such as dropping it in a pool or running it through the washer, there are a few not-so-obvious ones that you may not have considered.

Running through the rain with the phone in your pocket or taking it into the bathroom while you shower are two other ways that water droplets can sneak their way into the complicated inner workings of your favorite device.

While iPhone screens are durable and scratch resistant, they aren’t infallible. While obvious trauma like dropping a phone onto concrete or even running over one with a car (yes, it happens more often than you think) is sure to result in a cracked, shattered or at least scratched screen, even small accidents might leave you with a damaged phone that makes it hard to check Facebook, take photos or make calls.

One issue that you can’t see but that will definitely leave you sans cell phone is a charging port, the little slots where you plug in your charger, gone bad. These ports malfunction for a variety of reasons. These include water damage, internal shorts or even foreign matter. Sometimes, it’s actually the charger itself that has gone bad, and it causes damage to the phone when it’s plugged in.

Thinking About Making the Fix Yourself? Think Again.

When something goes wrong with your iPhone – especially something that you can easily diagnose, like a cracked screen – you might be tempted to try to make repairs yourself. After all, how difficult can it be to take off a broken screen and slap on a new one?

The truth is that the process is a little more complicated than that. Further, it’s a process that requires a delicate touch. There are a lot of sensitive parts on the inside of your phone, and if you’re not careful, you could easily touch the wrong thing and end up with a completely dead unit.

While there are plenty of ways to save money with regards to your phone, such as buying cases and accessories online, making repairs on your own isn’t one of them. It’s a much smarter and safer decision to allow a reputable phone repair company to fix any issues that may arise.

For starters, they’ll have a lot more experience than you, which means that they’ll know exactly which parts will fit your specific phone. Plus, they’ll know exactly how to install them. On top of that, they’ll have a dedicated workspace that allows them to repair your iPhone without the risk of losing tiny parts or accidentally shorting something out.

The thought of something happening to your iPhone is definitely a scary one, but you have professionals in Nassau County that you can turn to when the unexpected occurs. You can count on them to quickly and correctly fix your iphone at an affordable price so you can get back to email, Facebook and more.
