Sony Playstation PS4 Blue Light of Death Repair – BLOD

PS4 Blue Light of Death repairs these days seem to be more of a temporary repair that includes such acts like banging your console against your knee, resetting the console a number of different ways, or just sending back the console to Sony for repair. With initial sales of PS4 systems warranties will soon come to an end leaving many users stuck with paying a large out of pocket fee for repairing the console with no real guarantee that it will not happen again.

Is there anything you can do to prevent this? It doesn’t look like it unfortunately. Some users have experienced the issue with barely any use of their console, some are regular users, some state they have dropped the console at some point. Just as with the Yellow Light of Death in the PS3 most of these issues are not generally user caused. The Blue Light of Death or BLOD is not however related to the YLOD of its predecessor console. It seems to be a completely unrelated issue and not GPU caused.

The PS4 is rather complex, especially the highly mechanical DVD drive. We recommend having a professional diagnose and repair the necessary components on the PS4. Repair costs could range currently from $169.95 – $200 range depending on issue due to the high current price of replacement components. As the console becomes more seasoned over the next few years we expect these prices to drop although PS3 repair prices have held steady in the $100-$140 range for quite some time.

If you happen to run into this issue please feel free to contact Repair Sharks and we would be happy to help you any way we can.
